   Max' Cave or Weir Cave: (Y1 Students and Up)max.jpg (10292 bytes)

Wild Caving through a cave on a farm 15 minutes drive from the Waitomo village.  Beautiful crystal formations and cave fauna.  Students will get wet and possibly muddy in this cave as the water can be up to their knees.  Helmets, lights and guides provided. 

Maximum group size of 12 people in the cave.  Also available as part of the Stubbs Combo (see Combination Activities).

   Spellbound: (Y1 Students and Up)

Visit the Mangawhitikau Glowworm Cave and Spirit Cave as part of this package adventure tour.  In the Mangawhitikau Glowworm Cave students wear a helmet and light and view glowworms while floating on a rubber raft.  In the Spirit Cave students will see a spectacular array of crystal formations and the sub fossil remains of moa and other cave visitors.  The caves are located 30 minutes away from the Waitomo village - own transport required.  Allow 3 hours to visit both caves.  Some photography permitted.

 

   Huhunui Cave: (Y5 and Up)huhu2.jpg (4982 bytes)

Follow a waterway either up or down stream, through this unique cave.  Students will get up close and personal with cave weta, glowworms and other cave fauna.  Students will get wet and possibly muddy in this cave as the water can be up to their waists.  Helmets, lights and guides provided.  Hot drink and snack provided in the cave.

   Downstream Gardners: (Y7 and Up)gardner.jpg (6793 bytes)

Downstream Gardners is a stream passage in the longest cave in the area.  Water levels in the stream vary but students will get wet and muddy.  Cavers will have the opportunity to try a squeeze (there is an alternative).  The walk to the cave entrance is through bush reserve.  Helmets, lights and guides provided.  Hot drink and snack provided in the cave.

   Cave World Adventure 1: (Y9 and Up)wdu.jpg (6440 bytes)

This trip begins with a traditional Maori welcome and incorporates Maori myths and legends throughout the trip. Enjoy the thrill of the waterslide in this exciting cave tubing trip.  Helmets, wetsuits, boots, guides and light snack provided.   Free admission to the Waitomo Caves Discovery Centre included.  Bring your own swimsuit, towel and toiletries.

Float, walk and swim through a spectacular cave under the light of glowworms.  Excellent stalactites and rock sculptures.  A good combination of cave tubing and wild caving.  Helmets, wetsuits, boots, guides and light snack provided.  Bring your own swimsuit, towel and toiletries.

 

 

   Zweiholen Cave: (Y9 and Up)zweil.jpg (5342 bytes)

Zweiholen is an upper level entrance to Gardner's Gut cave.  A wide range of impressive cave formations can be seen.  There is a short abseil or ladder descent to the streamway.  Water levels in the stream vary but students will get wet and muddy.  The walk to the cave entrance is through bush reserve.   Helmets, lights and guides provided.   Hot drink and snack provided in the cave.

   Black Labyrinth  (Y9 and Up)bwr1.jpg (8254 bytes)

The original cave tubing trip through the Ruakuri Cave system.  An exhilarating under ground experience incorporating glowworms, crystal formations, jumps, waterfalls and lots of fun! Swimsuit, towel and toiletries required.  Helmets, wetsuits, boots, guides and light snack provided.  Free admission to the Waitomo Caves Discovery Centre; hot showers, soup and bagels included.

   Rap, Rock and Raft: (Y9 and Up)rapraftrock.jpg (6966 bytes)

This cave tubing trip takes place in the Mangawhitikau streamway.  It involves cave tubing, a 27-metre abseil to enter the cave, a rock climb to exit the cave, and a magnificent glowworm display.  Swim suit and towel, spare socks required.  Guide provides a camera bag, wetsuit, boots and other equipment.

   Haggas Honking Holes: (Y9 and Up)honk.jpg (7900 bytes)

A fast moving adventure that includes three abseils down 10 metre waterfalls.  Wild caving, optional squeezes and glowworms up close!  Bring a swim suit, towel and toiletries.  Guides, helmets, lights, wetsuits, boots and a light snack provided.

Explore a magical combination of abseiling, caving, a flying fox, cave tubing and waterfall climbs.  Float under a galaxy of glowworms.  Swimsuit, towel and toiletries required.  Snack on the trip, hot showers soup and bagels and free admission to the Waitomo Caves Discovery Centre included.  Two guides per trip, helmets, lights, wetsuits, boots and a light snack provided.
